Leadership / Building Trust

It is the leader's day to day action and communication, not a major event, that builds or diminishes trust in an organization.

To gain trust, a leader might ask a number of questions such as, can I:
  • recognize and respect individual differences among team members?
  • communicate a vision clearly?
  • influence team members to participate?
  • acknowledge the contribution of others?
  • demonstrate consistency and fairness?
  • be skeptical when necessary?

Dr. Green's leadership sessions help clients compare themselves to successful leaders who have been tested over many years of research. While strength in trusting people and showing them dignity and respect is essential, it is also important to challenge people and ideas when the situation requires it.

This coaching sequence helps clients see that both sides of the equation have a place in building strong interpersonal relationships and in management.

Readings on critical thinking are suggested and role-play consultations with Dr. Green provide opportunity to analyze new responses. The experience of practicing is an important factor when a person is trying to break a pattern of thought and behavior. Dr. Green reminds clients that others could be looking at a situation differently than they themselves do.
